Oxbow Lake Association Mission
The purpose of the Oxbow Lake Association is to:
- Preserve and protect Oxbow Lake and its surroundings

- Maintain the natural shoreline of Oxbow Lake
- Inform individuals, organizations and government bodies on issues affecting and pertaining to Oxbow Lake.
501c3 Tax Status
The Oxbow Lake Association is now a Tax-exempt Organization!
After nearly two years of discussion, research, and filing application forms, we received the good news in an approval letter from the IRS in August of 2016:
“We're pleased to tell you we determined you're tax-exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3. Donors can deduct contributions they make to you under IRC Section 170. You're also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers or gifts...”
The Oxbow Lake Association pursued tax-exempt status in order to continue building our treasury for the purpose of protecting and furthering lake health, including the potential battle against aquatic invasive species (AIS).
Always consult with an accountant or tax-advisor for confirmation, but typically what this means for you is that membership fees to OLA, because we will use them only for purposes of pursuing our mission, are tax-deductible. Donations over and above your membership fees are also typically deductible. Items where you receive personal benefit for your contribution, such as fees for the summer picnic, are not deductible.
If you wish to make an additional tax-exempt deduction at any time, please do so. Oxbow Lake and the Oxbow Lake Association thank you! If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Kenkel at moc.liamgnull@leknekbnj or Otto Novak at moc.liamgnull@kavonldnao.
